Santa Cruz de Tenerife showcases a cultural and leisure agenda with offerings for all ages, including concerts, youth workshops, cinema, activities in libraries, and popular celebrations such as the Taganana Festival.
Concerts at Los Lavaderos
The “Lavaderos Live Music” series continues this Thursday, 21st August, with a concert by the Canarian rock band Escaldón de Golfos, starting at 20:30 in the Sala de Arte Los Lavaderos. The band, with a 12-year history, will perform a repertoire that spans international classics such as ACDC and Steppenwolf, as well as Spanish artists like Calamaro, Ariel Rot, and Mojinos, including works by Luis Eduardo Aute and Pablo Milanés.
Cinema at TEA and Summer Series
The series “50 Years Later: 1975” will screen the film Dersu Uzala (The Hunter), directed by Akira Kurosawa, on Thursday, 21st August, at 19:00 in its original version with Spanish subtitles. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will present the film The Perfect Recipe by Louise Courvoisier from Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 24th August, at 19:00. The film will be shown in its original French version with Spanish subtitles and is not recommended for those under 12 years old.
Taganana Festival
The sixth edition of the Taganana Festival will take place this Friday, 22nd, and Saturday, 23rd August, in locations around San Andrés and Taganana, within the Anaga Massif, which celebrates ten years since its designation as a Biosphere Reserve.
- Friday 22 in San Andrés: Family performances by magician and clown Carlos Adriano and the circus duo Watones Locos, starting at 19:00.
- Saturday 23 in Taganana: The programme will kick off at 19:30 with the duo Bucero & Shadday López (La Juntada), followed by the Tenerife poet and musician Reina Omega and DJ Bliss. At 22:00, Madrid singer Travis Birds will perform her Jardín del Deseo tour in the plaza of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves.
Activities for Young People
The Distrito Joven programme offers several activities:
- Video Game Design Workshop, this Thursday 21st at 17:00, in the Casa de la Juventud Mascareño.
- Evening Activities for Young People, this Friday 22nd from 17:00 to 21:00 at Los Charcos de Valleseco, featuring activities such as juggling, obstacle races, spikeball, urban dance, and crafts.
- Introduction to Urban Dance Workshop, on Friday 22nd at 17:00 at the Community Centre of Valleseco, covering styles like hip hop, dancehall, and locking.
Library Initiatives
The municipal libraries have expanded the cultural agenda with activities for children and families:
- “Collage, Story and Cardboard” Workshop, this Thursday 21st August at 17:00 at the Santa Cruz Municipal Library, led by artist Alejandra Arbizu, aimed at children aged 7 and above.
- Baby Storytime “Little Water Tales”, tomorrow Friday 22nd at 17:00 at the Central Municipal Library, with Fidel Galbán. This activity is targeted at families with babies aged 0 to 36 months.
