Cultural Highlights in Lanzarote: Music, Circus, Film, and Art Events This Week

This week, the Pedro Rosa Quintet from Brazil will perform in Arrecife as part of the Tensamba Festival, alongside the YL Jazz Trio from South Korea for the Noon Festival. Additionally, this Saturday, the Arrecife en Vivo Channel Gala will take place at Islote de Fermina, featuring the best in local music, with Coti as the headline act for the Yaiza festivities.

In other news, classic circus arrives in Arrecife with ‘La Fabulosa Feria de Billy Capers’, and the Buñuel Cinema continues its cinematic offerings.

MUSIC

  • Pedro Rosa Quintet. Tensamba Festival

El Almacén will host one of the most sophisticated proposals in contemporary Brazilian music: the Pedro Rosa Quintet, which will perform live its album ‘Midnight Alvorada’ as part of the 22nd edition of the Brazilian culture festival Tensamba.

When: Friday, 5th September at 20:00.

  • YL Jazz Trio. Noon Festival

September brings back the Noon Festival, characterised by scheduling concerts at different times. In this case, the South Korean band YL Jazz Trio will perform original pieces and works by the Canary Islands band Socos Dúo, with whom they have collaborated in Korea.

When: Saturday, 6th September at 12:00.

  • Gala Arrecife en Vivo Channel

On 6th September, eight bands and soloists from Lanzarote will inaugurate Arrecife en Vivo at the AEV Channel Gala. The Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism sponsor this day dedicated to showcasing local talent. Among those performing will be Diego Barber, Lucas de Mulder, M Oznari, and Dana from the group Sin Salida.

  • Proyecto Sur. Arrecife de Mar y Música

The “Arrecife de Mar y Música” cycle returns with a concert by the international ensemble Proyecto Sur, featuring cellist Massimo Macrì, accordionist Davide Vendramin, and actress Eleonora Macrì Pedregal. This multisensory proposal combines chamber music, poetry, and video projections.

When: Saturday, 6th September at 20:00.

The Yaiza Festivities will hold a special evening with a concert by Argentine singer-songwriter Coti and his band, performing some of his greatest hits such as ‘Nada fue un error’ and ‘Antes que ver el sol’.

Coti is also known for composing songs for other artists such as Luis Miguel, Julieta Venegas, Diego Torres, and Paulina Rubio.

CIRCUS

  • La Fabulosa Feria de Billy Capers

The Fabulosa Feria de Billy Capers invites you to enter a universe inspired by the classic circus, featuring juggling, parades, creativity, and traditional games in a vibrant and fantastical atmosphere.

When: From Friday, 5th September at 18:00 until Sunday, 7th at 14:30.
Where: Charco de San Ginés, Arrecife.

CINEMA

The Buñuel Cinema at El Almacén presents ‘On the Go’, the debut feature by directors María Gisèle Royo and Julia de Castro. A vibrant and free-spirited story of friendship, motherhood, and madness influenced by classic road trips, independent cinema and Spanish narratives.

When: Thursday, 4th September at 20:00.

  • Septiembre dice. Buñuel Cinema

The Buñuel Cinema at El Almacén presents ‘Septiembre dice’, the debut feature by French actress and filmmaker Ariane Labed, which adapts the psychological thriller novel ‘Hermanas’ by Daisy Johnson, exploring the relationship between two inseparable sisters with opposing mindsets.

When: Wednesday, 10th September at 20:00.

LECTURE

  • Weaving Emotions through Music. Laura Vega

The composer and educator from Gran Canaria will discuss the creation process from the birth of ideas to the finalisation of scores. Vega will talk about decision-making regarding musical structures and forms, instrumental templates, harmonies, melodies, rhythms, textures, and collaborations with other artists.

When: Tuesday, 9th September at 19:30.

EXHIBITION

  • JUIN. You Have Also Rained. How to Navigate Pain

The visual artist JUIN presents his latest work, ‘You Have Also Rained. How to Navigate Pain’, where a sequence of chapters about pain and its phases—denial, entry into pain, confrontation, and calm—are traced through different rooms. The works act as sensory thresholds within an emotional labyrinth. The exhibition is curated by Elena García.

When: Opening on 5th April at 19:00. Runs until 18th October.

CRAFT FAIR

  • Lanzarote Craft Fair

The Lanzarote Craft Fair returns to the island with the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows in Mancha Blanca, uniting the best of traditional and contemporary crafts from Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and La Gomera. This edition will also feature musical performances, workshops, traditional games, live craftsmanship, and tastings.

When: Wednesday, 10th September from 17:30 to 21:30. From Thursday 11th to Monday 15th from 10:30 to 21:30.
