Renowned Cantabrian singer David Bustamante will be among the artists performing at the Fiestas del Cristo in Tacoronte. He is set to give a free concert as part of his Tour Inédito in the Plaza del Cristo on Friday, 26th September, starting at 10:00 PM.

Festivities and Events

This year features some exciting new additions, including the return of the election for the Queen of the Harvest Festival, with participation from nine local contestants. The gala will take place on Friday, 19th September, and include a spectacular showcase titled La Mar, featuring the Agrupación Folclórica Guarache and Los Sabandeños.

The event organisers also announced the revival of traditional competitions associated with the festivities: the XXIII Photographic Marathon and the XLII Canarian Folklore and Romances Alhóndiga Competition. This year, they will also introduce the inaugural Carmen Castro Prize for Painting and Sculpture, dedicated to the City of Tacoronte.

Details of the festive programme were revealed yesterday by Mayor Sandra Izquierdo, along with Noemí García, the head of Festivals and Citizen Participation, Vanessa Luis-Ravelo, the Councillor for Citizen Security and Equality, and Elisuán Delgado, parish priest of the Sanctuary of Christ. During the event, the traditional draw for the order of participation for the candidates vying for the titles of Queen of Art, Queen of the Harvest Festival, Child Princess, and Queen of Seniors was also conducted.

Cultural Offerings

The cultural and festive offerings will kick off this Friday at the Auditorio Capitol with the premiere of Libros Cruzados, produced by the Delirium Theatre company. The opening speech will take place on Sunday, 7th September, delivered by José Ángel Almenar Fuentes, followed by the traditional Taponazo, which is a large concert featuring singer Soraya, alongside artists such as Edwin Rivera, Victoria Escudero, and Rafael Flores El Morocho, among others. This event is scheduled for Saturday, 13th September, starting at 10:00 PM, with free entry.

The Festival of Art and the election of the Queen of the Festivities will occur on Friday, 12th September, with performances by Priscila Estévez, Natalia, and Blas Cantó. Meanwhile, the Seniors’ Gala will take place on Sunday, 14th September, featuring musical entertainment by Agustín Ramírez from the group Los Diablos and Yamilei Cruz with the Mariachi Peleón. A special show for children will be held on Wednesday, 17th September, during the Children’s Gala of Princess 2025, with contributions from El Gran Show de Komba and the Canarian soloist Mario Falero.

Grand Finale

The main day of the festivities will be on Sunday, 28th September, marked by the traditional opening of the doors of the Sanctuary of Christ to welcome pilgrims from all over the Island. In the morning, the thirty-ninth Crafts Fair will commence, followed by a religious service at noon, during which the venerated image of the Blessed Christ of Sorrows will be taken out of the temple, accompanied by local authorities, brotherhoods, and the band from the Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia. The festive programme will continue into the following day with a large family celebration.
