The Madrid comedian David Cepo has once again surpassed his own record for the third consecutive year, selling over five thousand tickets to date for the ten performances of his successful show ‘No cruces los brazos’, part of the third edition of the Reíslas Comedy Festival, taking place across the eight islands in September and October. The event’s promoters have been compelled to add new performances on the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife. David Cepo breaks box office records at the Reíslas Comedy Festival

Last year, Cepo performed seven shows of his latest production at Reíslas, a performance that has consistently sold out across Spanish theatres since 2022. Remarkably, the Madrid-born entertainer has returned to the Reíslas lineup this 2023 with the same show, demonstrating two things: that the Canarian audience can’t get enough of him and that for the event’s promoters, David Cepo and his ‘No cruces los brazos’ have proven to be a reliable and profitable investment. The artist is set to debut a new show titled ‘Dónde vamos a estar’ in 2026.

Festival Kickoff

David Cepo (1988) has emerged as a phenomenon in the Spanish comedy scene. He will launch the third edition of the Reíslas Comedy Festival with a free performance of ‘No cruces los brazos’ at the Insular Auditorium of La Gomera on 2nd September. This edition will take place for the first time across all islands, supported by Etiqueta Negra Producciones, ¿Cómo Está Wally?, Producciones & Management, Ninona Producciones and Estudios Multitrack. Tickets for the various theatres and auditoriums are already available on the website https://reislas.com/programacion/

Following this, Cepo will embark on an extensive tour, performing in El Hierro (3rd), La Palma (4th), Lanzarote with two shows (5th), Gran Canaria (6th), Fuerteventura (7th), Tenerife with two shows (8th), and La Graciosa (9th), concluding with a final free performance in Caleta del Sebo.

White Humour

‘No cruces los brazos’ is an improvisational stand-up comedy show where both the audience and Cepo thoroughly enjoy the hour-and-a-half performance. “It’s light-hearted humour inspired by everyday situations with which everyone can empathise and identify. I mix scripted material with improvised sections which are different each day, giving the audience a sense of being part of the show. For me, it’s important to blend these two aspects to make the performance as complete as possible,” explains David Cepo, who has been delighting audiences with his white humour for over a decade.

Festival Lineup

The Reíslas Comedy Festival’s third edition not only features David Cepo but also includes renowned artists such as the Galician Luis Piedrahita, Andalusians Dani Rovira, Maru Candel, Patricia Galván, and David Navarro, Lebanese Hovik Keuchkerian, and the trio Corta el Cable Rojo made up of Salomón, José Andrés, and Carlos Ramos, alongside five of the most popular comedians in the Canary Islands: Kike Pérez, Omayra Cazorla, Abián Díaz, Jorge Ávila, and Saúl Romero. This year, the promoters, who attracted around thirteen thousand attendees last year across performances in six islands, are adding La Gomera and El Hierro to their appealing lineup.

The Reíslas Comedy Festival is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Institute of Cultural Development (ICDC), as well as by the Cabildos of the islands and all the municipalities where it takes place.
