Disa Energía Renovable Plans €3.3 Million Solar Plant in Granadilla de Abona

Disa Energía Renovable to Install Photovoltaic Plant in Granadilla de Abona

The company Disa Energía Renovable is promoting the installation of a photovoltaic plant in Granadilla de Abona, which will have a maximum capacity of 6.3 megawatts. This capacity is expected to supply energy to over 6,000 homes. The project involves the deployment of 9,090 panels across 14 plots covering 50,660 square metres. The total investment is approximately €3.3 million, with a projected timeframe of four months for the execution of the works.

Public Utility Declaration for the Yaco Solar Plant

Named the Yaco photovoltaic solar plant, located in the lower granadilla area, the declaration of public utility for the project is currently open for public consultation for 30 days, following its publication in yesterday’s edition of the Official Bulletin of the Province.

The promoting company claims that the aim is to harness electrical energy from the solar potential of the area, resulting in a savings on alternative energy sources. The chosen location for this project is classified as rustic land for territorial protection, situated 390 metres above sea level. The operational life of the photovoltaic plant is estimated to be 30 years, with an installed capacity of 6.363 megawatts and an annual energy production estimated at nearly 12,000 megawatts, as detailed in the publicly displayed project.

According to the budget of almost €3.3 million, the main investment is attributed to the essential equipment of the solar plant, particularly the photovoltaic panels. The expenditure in this area totals nearly €980,000.

Disa also operates the El Bailadero photovoltaic plant in the municipality of Arico, which has a capacity of 10 megawatts, making it one of the largest photovoltaic generation plants in Canarias. The electricity produced by this plant prevents the emission of 9,500 tonnes of CO2. The energy generated could supply a population of 40,000 residents.

Another installation by Disa is the photovoltaic plant known as ‘Arico 7’, which added seven megawatts to the island’s energy grid upon acquisition in 2017. It consists of six closely located plants that allow Disa to optimise its management by sharing operational and maintenance tasks, according to information provided by the company on its website.

Wind Farms in Agache

Disa Energía Renovable, SLU, is also promoting two wind farm projects in Fasnia and Güímar, which face significant social and political opposition. The Cabildo has issued an unfavourable report due to their impact on a protected natural area classified as a Natural Monument.

The company defends the projects’ feasibility, asserting they comply with regulations for proper execution. Moreover, Disa is willing to adapt the projects to meet the Cabildo’s requirements. At present, their authorisation remains undecided.
