The Civil Guard has reported eight foreign tourists for reckless driving and for failing to use safety equipment while travelling along the TF-24 in the descending direction, within the Teide National Park. The occupants of two rental cars were observed sitting in the windows, with their upper bodies outside the vehicles, not wearing seatbelts.
The Traffic Safety Investigation Unit (UNIS-GIAT) initiated an investigation after detecting a video documenting the manoeuvre. Following the identification of the vehicles, an operation was launched in collaboration with the Traffic Detachment of Granadilla de Abona and the Fiscal and Border Section of Tenerife South Airport, successfully locating the drivers and passengers as they prepared to return to their home country.

Once located and identified, the agents issued the relevant reports: the drivers were penalised for reckless driving, while the passengers were reported for not using the vehicle’s safety equipment.
The incidents were reported to the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, resulting in the drivers being required to pay two fines of €500 each, along with the loss of six points from their licences. The six passengers faced fines of €200 each, due to their non-resident status in Spain. According to Traffic Safety regulations, these offences are classified as very serious and serious, respectively.
