The Cabildo and El Sauzal Town Hall Organise Craft Fair with Over 30 Exhibitors
This new edition will feature craftsmen, primary sector workers, and top-level Canarian artists, bringing vibrancy to the northern Tenerife municipality from 12th to 14th September.
The Tenerife Cabildo and El Sauzal Town Hall are organising the Craft Fair in the town, which will host more than 30 exhibitors. The event will take place from 12th to 14th September at the Plaza del Príncipe de El Sauzal and the surrounding area of the Plaza de San Pedro. The event was presented today (Thursday) at a press conference by the Councillor for Employment and Education, Efraín Medina; the Mayor of El Sauzal, Mariano Pérez; and the manager of the Island Craft Company, Ricardo Cólogan.
Efraín Medina stated that “this is one of the most significant fairs in the northeast region of the island, becoming a cultural and creative meeting point, carving out its own space between innovation and tradition.”
The fair in El Sauzal features, as the employment councillor assured, “the primary sector, food production and traditional crafts.” This support for the sector, which includes cultural performances and exhibitions, positions it as a premier fair.
For his part, Mariano Pérez expressed gratitude to the island administration for its involvement, adding that “beyond craftsmanship, El Sauzal will become a centre for activities over three days with top Canarian artists. There will also be artisan workshops and traditional activities allowing both young and old to learn about Canarian traditions.”
This year, artisan participation will offer visitors a production corresponding to 20 different craft categories: Almazuelas, Carpentry, Candle Making, Textile Decoration, Crochet, Jewellery, Toy Making, Macramé, Leathercraft, Modelling, Dressmaking, Doll Making, Material Recycling and Stained Glass, in addition to traditional crafts such as Traditional Pottery, Embroidery, Perforation, Rosettes, Stick Weaving, Musical Instruments, and Weaving.
It is worth noting that the Insular Craft Plan of the Tenerife Cabildo includes support for artisan activities based on sustainability criteria. This is done by promoting the marketing of artisanal products as a way to ensure the sector’s survival and strengthen its position as a generator of employment and income.
