Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura has concluded a new edition of its children’s camp Oasis Camp, a pioneering educational project in Spain that brought together nearly a hundred children aged between 4 and 12 over two weeks. The experience, developed in the heart of nature and in coexistence with more than 250 species of animals and plants, has combined environmental education, emotional support, physical activity, and artistic proposals.

Designed by experts in conservation, emotional well-being, sport, and art, the programme has included activities such as handling lemurs, giraffes, birds of prey, and elephants, environmental enrichments for hippos, crocodiles, and turtles, preparing diets for sea lions, creating seed beds, planting cuttings, and producing organic compost. Workshops in clay sculpture, wooden propellers, recycled jewellery, mindfulness, and sports training have also been conducted.

One of the defining features of Oasis Camp is its personalised attention: one monitor for every four children, with a team of educators specialising in various disciplines. According to its creator and manager of Oasis Wildlife, Guacimara Cabrera, “Oasis Camp is not just a summer camp; it is a transformative experience. Here, every child learns to coexist with nature, to know themselves, and to develop values that will accompany them for a lifetime.”

Dr. María González has led the emotional well-being area, while the Conservation Director, Soraya Cabrera, has overseen experiences with fauna and flora. The sports area has been managed by Néstor Rodríguez, and the artistic and performing arts proposals have been designed by Manuel Andrade.

Since its inception thirteen years ago, Oasis Camp has established itself as an innovative and accessible educational benchmark thanks to the support of the Chekipa Foundation, which allows for a reduction in the programme’s cost without compromising quality, thereby expanding access to families who would otherwise not be able to afford such an experience.

For Cabrera, the results are clear: “It’s not just about entertainment; it’s about companionship, inspiration, and transformation. It’s a constant exchange: their curiosity inspires us and reminds us that we work for a better world.”
