Tenerife remains full of activities over the weekends, as both public and private sectors strive to keep the island lively. From film festivals to music events and cultural traditions, there are various options for an enjoyable weekend. If you were thinking of staying in, it might be time to check your wardrobe and plan an outing, as you won’t want to miss these activities.

Film

TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is screening The Perfect Recipe this weekend at 19:00. This heartwarming comedy by Louise Courvoisier cleverly depicts the familial and emotional bonds of adventurous characters. Set in the French countryside, this richly nuanced film has received several prestigious awards, including Best Debut Feature and Best Emerging Actress at the César Awards, the Youth Award at Cannes, and the Audience Award at the Seminci in Valladolid.

Traditions

Tejina continues to celebrate the festival of San Bartolomé this weekend. On Saturday, there will be a treasure hunt, a procession, a fireworks display, and a grand popular fiesta featuring the Banda Loca orchestra.

Sunday will be particularly poignant, with the arrival of the Hearts in Tejina Square, accompanied by their respective parrandas. The day will also feature a flower battle and the Festival of Exaltation of the Hearts.

Festivals

The sixth edition of the Taganana Festival takes place this Saturday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, featuring music, performing and visual arts, as well as rural development. Headlining is Madrid-based singer Travis Birds, performing from 22:00. The musical programme kicks off at 19:30 with duo Bucero & Shadday López and their show ‘La Juntada’. It will also feature Tenerife poet and musician Reina Omega, two-time winner of the Poetry Slam Tenerife, and DJ Bliss, who will close the session.

In Garachico, the Gran Parrandazo will be held this Saturday, featuring Tutto Durán, Corintio Band, La Orquesta Maracaibo, and La Orquesta Acapulco, among others. Concerts will begin at 12:00 in Plaza de San Roque. Tickets are available here.

Bavarian Week

Puerto de la Cruz kicks off its Bavarian Week this Sunday with a concert at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex. It’s a unique opportunity to enjoy German folklore and culture.

El Parque El Pinar de La Victoria will host ‘Alice in Wonderland‘ by the company Zálatta Teatro at 17:00 on Sunday. This performance tells the story of the adventurous Alice, who finds herself in Wonderland on a summer afternoon, meeting eccentric and intriguing characters. Throughout her journey, she will encounter numerous people and animals, all surrounded by magic and music.
