Fiestas de Guatiza 2025: Santo Cristo de las Aguas from 5th to 14th September
The Festivities in honour of the Santo Cristo de las Aguas will return to Guatiza from 5th to 14th September 2025, featuring a comprehensive programme of cultural, sporting, musical, and religious activities designed to engage locals and visitors of all ages.
Activities
29th and 30th August
- Friday 29th – 20:00 hours: III Memorial Víctor Parrilla at the Football Field.
- Saturday 30th – 16:00 hours: Continuation and final of the bowling tournament.
Official Start of the Festivities – 5th September
- 18:00 hours: Decorating the Neighbourhoods.
- 21:00 hours: Opening Speech by Nieves Espinosa.
- Following the speech: Carnerazo and Asalto with live music from the group Arpegio.
Workshops and Music – 6th September
- 11:00 hours: Children’s Workshop “Decorate Your Frame”. Registration: 613560918. Members £3, non-members £6. Limited spaces.
- 11:00 hours: Adult Workshop “Pot Decoration” (aged 16 and above). Members £8, non-members £12. Limited spaces.
- 21:00 hours: 18th Soloists’ Meeting featuring the Folklore School of Guatiza.
- After the gathering, a dance with Sintonía Show and Nueva Stella.
Sunday 7th September
- 12:00 hours: Water Festival with inflatables.
- 14:00 hours: Lunch (Free for members, £6 for non-members). Registration closes on 4th September.
- 19:30 hours: Canary Lottery.
Sports and Traditional Games
- 8th September: Emerlan Exhibition and Truco Championship.
- 9th September: Children’s Afternoon and Adult Round (aged 16 and above).
- 10th September: Cinquillo Championship and Nocturnal Orienteering.
- 11th September: Carneros Prix (aged 14 and above) and Napolitana Championship.
- 12th September: Domino Tournament, Children’s Gymkhana, and Adult “Your Face Sounds Familiar” Playback, followed by live music with Grupo Alegranza.
Romería and Closing of the Festivities
- 13th September: Romería in Honour of the Santo Cristo de las Aguas, departing from the Football Field. Cart registration: 613560918.
- Dance of the Romero featuring Son del Norte, Grupo Alegranza, and Duo David Perdomo and Borja Pérez.
- 14th September: Theatre “Angels and Demons” presented by the group La Caldereta.
Religious Activities
- Triduum in Honour of the Santo Cristo de las Aguas:
- Thursday 11th: Rosary at 19:00 hours and Eucharist at 19:30 hours (for the elderly and sick).
- Friday 12th: Rosary at 19:00 hours and Eucharist at 19:30 hours (for priestly vocations).
- Saturday 13th: Rosary at 19:30 hours and Eucharist at 20:00 hours (for families of the village).
- Sunday 14th: Rosary at 19:00 hours and Solemn Eucharist at 19:30 hours, presided over by Rev. Don Samuel Alirio Aguilar Mazzey, parish vicar, accompanied by the Grupo Alborada, followed by a procession with the Municipal Band of Teguise “Teguiband”.
