Hiker Rescued After Serious Fall in Gran Canaria
A 50-year-old woman has been seriously injured after falling down a slope while hiking in Arguineguín, according to reports from 1-1-2 Canarias. The incident occurred on Friday when she collided with a rock during her descent.
Details of the Incident
The accident took place on Dibicenas Street shortly after 1:33 PM. The Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert regarding the hiker’s fall, which involved her tumbling several metres down the slope and being struck by a rock.
Rescue Operation
Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium evacuated the woman on a stretcher to the location of a medicalised ambulance, where healthcare personnel assessed her condition. Initial evaluations indicated multiple serious injuries, prompting her transfer by ambulance from the SUC to the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria.
Assistance from Emergency Services
Additionally, Civil Protection units assisted the firefighters in the rescue and transport of the injured woman.
Police Involvement
Local police and the Guardia Civil were also involved in the operation, and they prepared the necessary reports regarding the incident.
