Scandinavian tourism is “a unique market that values our landscapes and the quality of Majorcan hospitality”

Turismo de Fuerteventura has conducted several professional meetings in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen as part of its sales campaign for the upcoming season, aiming to promote the destination within the Scandinavian market.

In a statement, the Insular Corporation explained that the commercial initiative held this week in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark was deemed strategic.

Strategic Approach

Marlene Figueroa, the island’s Tourism Councillor who led the Majorcan hotel delegation to this key market, remarked, “This initiative is strategic for repositioning ourselves in a Nordic market that appreciates our landscapes and the quality of Majorcan hospitality.”

She continued, “We are prioritising promotion in markets whose characteristics, such as spending capacity and the profile of tranquil clients interested in our island’s values, contribute to enhancing the quality of life in Fuerteventura.”

Strengthening Connections

Another aim of this promotion was to reinforce the new regular connection by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), which will link Copenhagen with Fuerteventura starting November 1st, connecting all Scandinavian capitals.

The Majorcan hotel delegation included representatives from business groups such as Oasis Wildlife, Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel, Elba Hoteles, Fergus Hoteles, Meliá Hotels, LIVVO Hoteles, Princess Hoteles, and R2 Hoteles.

Institutional Support

The initiative, exclusive to Fuerteventura, received organisational support and institutional reinforcement from the Spanish embassies in the Nordic capitals. This reflects a high-level commitment from the Spanish government that showcased the potential of a Majorcan delegation presenting themselves to local operators with “unity and strength.”

Councillor Marlene Figueroa and her hotel delegation met with travel agents at The Scandic Hotel Simonkenttä in Helsinki, accompanied by Julio Jiménez, the Tourism Councillor at the Spanish Embassy in Finland.

In Sweden, the professional meeting took place at the Birger Jarl Hotel in Stockholm, with support from Milagros Montes López, the Tourism Councillor at the Spanish Embassy in Sweden.

The final meeting of the Majorcan tour in the Scandinavian countries occurred yesterday at The Radisson Royal in Copenhagen, supported by Ignacio Jiménez, the Tourism Councillor at the Spanish Embassy in Denmark.

Sales Momentum

The roadmap for Tourism to regain the Scandinavian market has taken advantage of the sales peaks in August in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway to present our offerings on-site.

Finally, the Cabildo reminded that the average daily expenditure per tourist, excluding flights, is €158 for Finnish tourists, €128.3 for Swedish tourists, and €108.3 for Norwegian tourists.
