The six municipalities of Fuerteventura have finalised their calendar of celebrations for the upcoming non-working days of next year. Each council has chosen two significant dates from their tradition and culture to include in the official list published in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands. Fuerteventura has now established its local holidays for 2026.

Antigua

In Antigua, residents will celebrate on 9th February, coinciding with the carnival, and on 8th September, in honour of Our Lady of Antigua, the town’s patron saint.

Betancuria

The historic municipality of Betancuria will celebrate on 14th July in honour of Saint Bonaventure, while 24th August will be reserved for commemorating Saint Bartholomew.

La Oliva

In the northern part of the island, La Oliva has selected 2nd February, the Feast of Candelaria, and 16th July, dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, closely linked to maritime tradition.

Pájara

Pájara will also observe two religious celebrations: 2nd July in honour of Our Lady of Regla and again 16th July for the Feast of Mount Carmel.

Puerto del Rosario

In Puerto del Rosario, the island’s capital, the selected date will be 7th October, marked as a local celebration day.

Tuineje

Lastly, Tuineje has opted for 2nd February, dedicated to Our Lady of Candelaria, and 13th October, when the traditional sworn festivals honouring Saint Michael the Archangel are held, alongside the battles of Cuchillete and Tamasite, a significant historical event for the municipality.

In this way, Fuerteventura will boast a calendar of celebrations in 2026 that combines patron saint festivities, historical commemorations, and popular traditions, reflecting the identity and cultural heritage of each municipality.
