The upcoming Ischia Safari, one of the most authentic gastronomic and wine events in Italy, is just around the corner. Organised by the Ischia Saperi e Sapori Association, this culinary journey begins on Sunday, 21st September, at the Albergo della Regina Isabella in Lacco Ameno. In 2015, chefs Nino Di Costanzo—chef of the two-Michelin-starred Danì Maison—and Pasquale Palamaro—chef at Indaco, Hotel della Regina Isabella—designed what was intended to be a simple four-hands dinner, but has now evolved into a highly anticipated event.

Since 2023, Fuerteventura has participated in this major event in the gastronomic sector, sending several delegations of chefs and producers who have continually surprised the international culinary community.

Chefs Vincenzo di Constanzo (Hotel Royal Palm Fuerteventura), Rigoberto Almeida (El Pellizco Restaurant), Lorena and Beatriz Placeres (Desértico Restaurant), Yarely Pérez (La Puipana Restaurant), José Prieto (Best Ham Slicer in the World 2022), and Daniel Fajardo (Casa Marcos Restaurant), alongside numerous producers from Fuerteventura, have showcased a sequence of dishes and ingredients that collectively create a culinary atlas of an island renowned for its natural beauty and stunning beaches, yet remains a genuine gastronomic mystery to many in Europe. This may explain why it is the first choice for residents of Ischia (Naples) to begin their touristic journey centred around Canarian cuisine and identity, following Fuerteventura’s participation in the last three editions.

Starting this Sunday, 21st September, and following several months of in-depth study into the history and culinary culture of Fuerteventura, presented in a refined haute cuisine format, the project is poised to become a new reference point for Canarian cuisine.

The journey also offers insights into the everyday lives of producers from Ischia. One such family is among the oldest in the fishmonger sector. Ischia is said to have the best port and fish market of Naples. They have much to share, as their history is intertwined with the significance of gastronomy in the economic and cultural development of the island, reflecting on many of its streets, lodgings, and markets.

Sunday 21: Charity Dinner

Ischia Safari will open with the Charity Dinner, scheduled for Sunday at 20:30: more than 30 Michelin-starred chefs will collaborate to create a signature menu featuring culinary artists, patissiers, and renowned mixologists.

Monday 22: Round Table and Party at Negombo

On Monday 22, Ischia Safari will provide a valuable opportunity for industry professionals to engage in dialogue and networking: businesses, chefs, journalists, and stakeholders will participate in a round table, followed by an informal brunch, immersing participants in one of the Mediterranean’s most captivating settings.

At 19:00, the lights will illuminate the highly anticipated Festa al Negombo, featuring the presence of over 200 chefs and young talents from the hospitality sector, master pizza makers, patissiers, and artisanal creators.

The participation of the Fuerteventura delegation has received support from the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura through FDCAN Funds, the Fuerteventura Tourist Board, the PROMOTUR society through Canary Islands Tourism, and the Pájara City Council via the Tourism Department.
