The Insular President, Lola García, and the Councillor for Territorial Planning, Nereida Calero, have shared the first draft of the PIOF/PORN. This was presented to local councils and political groups represented in the Insular Corporation.
This initial document aims to gather further contributions from involved administrations and stakeholders. The meetings included technical staff from the Department of Territorial Planning and its Insular Director, as well as the drafting team.
This round of meetings follows an initial series held last June. Participants included various departments of the Cabildo, autonomous organisations, local councils, and other relevant administrations, as well as professional associations of architects, surveyors, and biologists, representatives from the primary sector, tourism and commercial sectors, and environmental associations.
Commitment to Territorial Planning
Insular President Lola García and Councillor Nereida Calero emphasised territorial planning as one of the significant commitments of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura. The goal is to ensure the drafting tools are developed with the utmost consensus from all involved stakeholders, including citizens, administrations, and various professional sectors.
Next Steps
The plan is to present the draft and the initial strategic document to the Cabildo’s Plenary in October. Following this essential step, the document will be made available for public consultation to continue gathering contributions from all involved parties.
