The Global Startup Competition, part of Africagua Canarias 2025, has received 56 applications from innovative companies in Europe and Africa with pioneering projects in water and renewable energy.

The Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce and the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI) have announced the closure of the registration period for the Global Startup Competition awards, which will feature in the upcoming edition of Africagua Canarias 2025, taking place in Fuerteventura on November 20 and 21.

The initiative aimed to identify the most innovative startups in the fields of water and renewable energies and has concluded with the participation of 46 emerging companies from countries including Spain, Morocco, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya.

The competition aims to promote disruptive projects that provide real and sustainable solutions to significant global challenges related to water management and the development of clean energy. From all submissions, 10 finalists will be selected, who will have the chance to publicly present their projects during Africagua Canarias 2025, in front of a jury composed of industry experts, investors, and institutional representatives.

At the same event, the winners will be announced: the first prize will receive a monetary award of 10,000 euros, while the runner-up will be awarded 5,000 euros.
