Fuerteventura Hospital Achieves High Satisfaction Ratings
The General Hospital of Fuerteventura, Virgen de la Peña, concluded 2024 with an impressive average rating of 9.04 in the Hospital Discharge Satisfaction Survey (ESAH), ranking as the second highest-rated public hospital in the Canary Islands. The study, conducted by the Canary Health Service, surveyed a sample of 365 patients admitted to the facility, showcasing one of the best patient satisfaction ratings in the Archipelago.
The results reflect significant recognition for the professionals’ efforts. Nearly all respondents commended the treatment received from both medical and nursing staff, achieving satisfaction rates exceeding 98% in both categories. The administrative team, porters, and cleaning staff also received high praise, with ratings around or exceeding 96%.
Specialty Services Stand Out
In terms of specialties, the departments of Nephrology and Otorhinolaryngology achieved scores close to outstanding, while Palliative Care is also among the most appreciated services. In the maternity sector, the majority of users reported receiving adequate information about breastfeeding and newborn care, in addition to positively assessing the attention received in delivery rooms.
Respect for Patient Privacy
Respect for patient privacy was another highly regarded aspect, earning a rating close to 99%. Moreover, most respondents indicated they received clear explanations regarding the progression of their illness and the medical tests performed.
Other factors, such as the cleanliness of the facilities, internal signage, and noise control, also received favourable feedback. Of those surveyed, 58% were women and 42% were men.
With this evaluation, the hospital solidifies its upward trend in user satisfaction, reflecting the trust of the community in the quality of care provided.
