Recognition of the Work of Gerardo Mesa Noda
The former president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, ex-senator, and former head of the Red Cross in the Canary Islands has been honoured for his involvement in supporting and assisting immigration in the Archipelago. Gerardo Mesa receives the Valbanera 2025 Award for immigration.
Alongside Mesa, the Venezuelan Solidarity Social Association has also been awarded. In the area of emigration, the awards go to Guillermo Morales Vera and the Canary Island Foundation Nuestra Señora de los Reyes for their commitment in Quibor, Venezuela.
The resolution, signed by the president Fernando Clavijo and published in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands, responds to the proposals from the General Directorate of Emigration and the Department of Social Welfare. These awards aim to highlight both the historical memory of the Canary diaspora and the integration actions of those arriving in the Archipelago.
