The Government, via an Agreement from the Delegated Government Commission for Economic Affairs (CDGAE) and an Order from the Ministry of Finance, has approved the granting of regional incentives for a total of 77 projects across eleven Autonomous Communities, including the Canary Islands.

In the Archipelago, 10 projects have been approved with a total investment of €257.3 million and a grant of €99.4 million, which will generate 382 jobs and maintain an additional 1,440 positions.

Key Projects in Lanzarote

In Lanzarote, one notable project is the expansion of the Emblematic Hotel La Casa de los Naranjos, located in the municipality of Haría. This initiative involves an investment of €1.25 million, aimed at creating new rooms, a restaurant, and a swimming pool, resulting in 7 new job opportunities.

Local Perspectives

Island director Pedro Viera emphasised that “this type of assistance represents a key opportunity for Lanzarote, as it attracts productive investment, generates employment, and diversifies our economy towards a more sustainable model.”

Haría’s mayor, Alfredo Villalba, responded positively to the project: “The expansion of La Casa de los Naranjos enhances the quality tourism offering in Haría, stimulates the local economy, and highlights our heritage, consolidating a development model that respects our identity and environment.”

On his part, hotel owner José Antonio García stated, “This expansion is a decisive step for the future of the establishment. Thanks to the support received, we will be able to continue growing, offer a differentiated experience to visitors, and create stable employment in our municipality.”

Government Initiatives

Through these grants, the Government promotes projects that contribute to economic balance among territories, encouraging business activity in regions with lower development levels and investing in productive, innovative, and environmentally sustainable initiatives.
