The Canary Islands Government, through the Directorate-General for Emergencies, has updated the situation, issuing an alert for high temperatures in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and Tenerife, starting from 2:00 PM today, Thursday, 18th September. Furthermore, a pre-alert for the same phenomenon will be in effect at the same time in La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro. This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, as part of the Specific Emergency Plan for the Canary Islands concerning Risks from Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA). Geographical Scope:
An alert is declared in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. A pre-alert status remains in place for La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.

Observations:
A heat episode, particularly affecting the coast and midlands, accompanied by varying levels of dust. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 34-37°C in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife, and 30-34°C in La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro. Minimum temperatures will surpass 24°C in many areas of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and locally in other islands.

The public is urged to follow the self-protection advice from the Directorate-General for Security and Emergencies.
