The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an updated forecast for Thursday across the Canary Islands, highlighting warm, humid, and sultry weather conditions. While temperatures will remain largely stable, the combination of heat and humidity will intensify the feeling of discomfort in several areas.

General Conditions

  • Cloud cover: In the northern slopes of the mountainous islands, below 1,200–1,300 metres, skies will be mostly cloudy in the early and late hours, especially in the northeast. Sunny spells are expected at midday.
  • Rain: Light, occasional showers cannot be ruled out in the northeastern midlands, particularly in the afternoon. Elsewhere, skies will be slightly cloudy or clear.
  • Temperatures: Largely unchanged, with highs of around 29°C in Tenerife and lows near 19°C in El Hierro.
  • Winds: Moderate from the northeast, strengthening in the southeast and west. Some very strong gusts may occur in exposed areas later in the day, while breezes will prevail on southwest coasts.

Forecast for the Province of Las Palmas

Gran Canaria

  • North (below 1,000–1,100 m): Cloudy intervals, with generally overcast skies in the early morning and late evening.
  • Rain: Occasional light showers possible in the midlands, especially during the afternoon and evening.
  • Rest of the island: Mostly clear skies.
  • Temperatures: Stable overall, with slight increases in inland minimums. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, values will range from 23°C at night to 26°C during the day.
  • Winds: Moderate from the northeast, strengthening in the southeast and far west. Some very strong gusts may occur later in the afternoon. Breezes expected along the southwest coast.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

  • Skies: Predominantly clear, with cloudy intervals in the west during early morning and late evening.
  • Temperatures: Little change, with slight rises in minimums inland.
  • Winds: Moderate from the northeast, occasionally stronger in exposed areas.

The Canary Islands face a sultry Thursday: mostly stable temperatures with highs around 29°C, humid conditions, and cloudy intervals in the north. Occasional light rain is possible in the midlands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, while Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will enjoy clearer skies. Winds from the northeast will dominate, intensifying locally with strong to very strong gusts later in the day.
