Heatwave to Persist in Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The heatwave currently affecting Lanzarote and La Graciosa since this Tuesday is expected to continue until at least Saturday. In light of this, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures starting from 11:00 on Tuesday, which will remain in effect until Thursday at the earliest, alongside a yellow warning for dust from 21:00 tonight.

Visibility and Health Risks

The suspended dust will lead to visibility of 3,000 metres, with concentrations potentially exceeding 200 micrograms per cubic metre. This could exacerbate health issues for individuals with chronic and/or respiratory conditions. The yellow warning for dust will remain in effect until 23:59 on Wednesday.

Temperatures Forecast

For this Tuesday, temperatures are anticipated to reach up to 34 degrees in various locations across the island. Minimum temperatures will range between 21 and 23 degrees. Additionally, Wednesday will see continued high temperatures, with values reaching up to 34 degrees.

On Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly further, with highs of 36 degrees in inland areas like Tías. Elsewhere, temperatures will range from 31 degrees in the north to 34 degrees in the south.

As for Friday, the heatwave will still impact Lanzarote, with maximum temperatures of up to 35 degrees and minimums between 22 and 24 degrees. This pattern will continue into Saturday, with temperatures again reaching 35 degrees. However, Sunday will bring a decrease in values, with highs of 31 degrees and lows between 21 and 22 degrees.
