Manuel Fernández: “We have named this show the ‘Iñaki Domínguez Boat Show’ in recognition of the many years he served as manager of the Exhibition Centre, always distinguished by his dedication, discretion, and loyalty.”
This morning (Friday, 19th), the Vice-President of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, and the Industry Councillor, Manuel Fernández, inaugurated the I Canary Islands Boat Show, which will bear the name of Iñaki Domínguez, who was recently the manager of the Tenerife Exhibition Centre.
Afonso and Fernández were accompanied by the President of Asnáutica, Carmen Fernández Ibars, along with other regional, island, and local authorities.
Significance of the Event
During the inauguration ceremony, Lope Afonso emphasised the “opportunity it represents for Tenerife to host initiatives of this nature, a long-held aspiration that is now realised, allowing the island to reconnect with the sea.”
The Vice-President remarked that “this show is a new effort to establish the foundations of a strategy to promote the Blue Economy, transforming us into an island that intelligently and sustainably utilises all its resources, with nautical activities serving as a useful tool for economic diversification.”
Tribute to Iñaki Domínguez
Councillor Manuel Fernández announced that the show would be named ‘Iñaki Domínguez Boat Show’, in memory of the former manager of the Exhibition Centre, recognising his professional journey and particularly his personal character, marked by dedication, discretion, and loyalty, which left an indelible mark on everyone and which we wish to honour with this gesture.
Meanwhile, Carmen Fernández Ibars, President of Asnáutica, highlighted “the collaboration between the Cabildo and the sector in launching this initiative, which has received a warm welcome from day one.”
