Increase in Crime Rates on Lanzarote: 3,751 Offences Reported in First Half of 2025

Increase in Criminal Offences in Lanzarote for 2025

Criminal offences in Lanzarote have increased by 60 incidents between January and June 2025 compared to the same period last year, representing a 2% rise. The total figure now stands at 3,751 crimes, up from 3,683 cases recorded in the first six months of 2024, according to data published by the Lanzarote Data Centre.

Conventional Crime Rates

In terms of conventional crime, there have been a total of 3,325 cases in Lanzarote during the first half of this year, compared to 3,149 in the same period of 2024, marking a 5.7% increase.

So far this year, there has been one intentional crime reported in the first three months, whereas there were none in 2024. Additionally, three attempted homicides have been recorded this year, compared to a total of five for the whole of 2024.

Serious and Lesser Crimes

In terms of serious and lesser crimes, there have been 75 cases registered thus far in 2025, compared to 71 during the same period last year. In contrast, drug trafficking offences have shown a decline, with 29 incidents recorded, reflecting a 23.7% decrease from the 39 cases registered in 2024.

Furthermore, robberies with violence and intimidation have reached 41 this year, a decrease compared to 47 cases in the same period of 2024. In addition, there have been 70 burglaries in homes and businesses between January and June, down from 85 during the same months in 2024.

Also, by June, cybercrime cases have reached 426 incidents, down from 534 recorded in the same period of 2024.

Sexual Offences

From January to June 2025, Lanzarote has recorded a decrease in sexual offences against personal liberty and sexual integrity, with a total of 35 cases, compared to 77 in the same months of 2024, according to the Lanzarote Data Centre.

Concerning sexual assaults with penetration, nine incidents have been reported so far this year, while there were 25 in the first half of last year.

Data from Arrecife, Teguise, and Tías

The municipality of Arrecife has recorded 1,299 criminal offences up to June, showing a 7.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, which had a total of 3,683 crimes.

In Teguise, the first six months of 2025 have seen 395 criminal offences, slightly up from 391 in 2024, reflecting a 1% increase.

Finally, the municipality of Tías has recorded 759 criminal offences up to June, compared to 658 in 2024, representing a 21.9% increase from the same period last year.
