The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Department of Industry headed by Lolina Negrín Pérez, has announced the operation of the first five public charging points for electric vehicles. This initiative is part of a project to install 15 chargers of 22 kW across various municipalities on the island, funded by Next Generation EU.

This project, awarded to Repsol Comercializadora de Productos Petrolíferos S.A. for an amount of €213,570.17, marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility in Fuerteventura. It provides residents and visitors with infrastructure that facilitates the transition to electric transport.

The island president, Lola García, stated that the installation of these public charging points represents a major advancement for sustainable mobility on the island, enabling both residents and visitors to opt for electric transport in a practical and safe manner.

Meanwhile, the head of the Industry Department, Lolina Negrín, emphasised that this project reinforces the commitment to energy transition in Fuerteventura by modernising the charging infrastructure, contributing to the reduction of carbon footprints, and promoting a cleaner, more efficient mobility model.

Current Charging Points

At present, the following charging points are operational:

Puerto del Rosario: C/ Doctor Fleming 6, 35600.

Pájara: C/ Nuestra Señora de la Regla 5, 35628.

La Oliva:

Juan Cabrera Méndez 1, 35640, La Oliva.

La Cancela 1, 35650, Lajares.

Arena (La) 1, Apartment, 35660, Corralejo.

Each charger allows for the simultaneous charging of two vehicles, thereby providing a swift service adapted to growing demand.

The remaining points, which will complete the planned 15, are in the advanced stages of administrative processing and electrical connection. In the coming weeks, those located in Pájara, Betancuria, and Puerto del Rosario will be incorporated. However, there are some delays in municipal licenses for the sites in Tuineje and Antigua.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura highlights the significance of this infrastructure as a milestone in the decarbonisation of mobility on the island. Further updates will be provided regarding the progressive launch of the remaining charging points.
