José Vélez Wows San Bartolomé with Emotional Concert

Saturday night, 23rd August, will be etched in the collective memory of San Bartolomé as an evening filled with heart. On the eve of the municipality’s main day, locals and visitors gathered in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente park to enjoy a highly anticipated concert: the return to the stages of Lanzarote for the unmistakable José Vélez, known as the “Canarito,” who delivered a performance brimming with emotion, nostalgia, and intimacy.

At 9:30 PM, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 3,000, the Canary singer took to the stage under a marquee set up for the festivities. Accompanied by a talented band of eight musicians, Vélez showcased his artistry for nearly two hours, embarking on a musical journey that resonated with several generations.

Songs such as Un Año Más, Romántica, A Cara o Cruz, No por Favor, Canarito, and Amor con Amor se Paga echoed powerfully, as the audience sang along with fervour from beginning to end. It was an emotionally charged night of reunions with a voice that has been the soundtrack of many lives, marking moments of love, farewells, and celebrations.

The emotion was palpable on stage as well. José Vélez, visibly moved, continually expressed his gratitude for the affection received and the warmth of the Lanzarote public, who applauded him multiple times.

At the conclusion of the concert, the Mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, and the Councillor for Fiestas, Estefanía Luzardo, congratulated the artist on the overwhelming success of his performance, emphasising the importance of having such notable figures at the patronal celebrations of San Bartolomé.

As a grand finale to a magical night, the skies above San Bartolomé were illuminated by traditional fireworks, adding a special touch to an evening filled with emotion, music, and Canary spirit. The unanimous applause from the audience solidified what was undoubtedly one of the most special nights in the patronal festivities of San Bartolomé.
