The Young Socialists of Fuerteventura, in collaboration with the Majorera Federation of Mothers, Fathers and Students (FIMAPA), have successfully concluded their solidarity campaign aimed at collecting and distributing school supplies for families in vulnerable situations on the island. Thanks to the generosity of the public, various stationery shops, and local small businesses, an extensive and varied collection of items has been gathered: over a hundred notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, coloured paints, as well as backpacks, pencil cases, and other essential items for school activities.

All this material has been carefully organised into 75 bundles, which are being distributed among various parents’ associations (AMPAs), based on the number of families with a zero-fee school canteen, that is, those in the highest brackets of social and economic vulnerability. In turn, the AMPAs are passing these bundles to the management teams of each educational institution, ensuring that the distribution is conducted with the utmost respect for the confidentiality and data protection of the beneficiary families.

The campaign involves the active participation of 11 AMPAs, highlighting that the need extends to a significant number of schools, as not all have established parents’ associations. This figure ultimately reflects that hundreds of local families require joint support from public institutions and civil society to ensure that their children have equal access to education and the necessary tools for their full development.

With this initiative, the Young Socialists of Fuerteventura and FIMAPA reaffirm their strong commitment to defending education as a fundamental right and promoting equality of opportunity. They also express their deepest gratitude to all individuals and entities whose solidarity has made it possible for many children on the island to start the school year with enthusiasm.
