The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the contracting company UTE Tiagua-Horinsa signed the replanteo record on Tuesday, officially permitting the commencement of sanitation works in El Golfo, within the municipality of Yaiza. This document confirms the initiation of long-stalled works.
Project Details
The project, awarded for 1.4 million euros with an execution period of 10 months, includes the installation of a wastewater treatment plant (EDAR), the construction of a sanitation network, and a system for the storage and reuse of treated water.
In the coming days, local residents will be invited to a meeting to discuss the details of the project’s development.
Statements from Officials
The President of the Cabildo and the Lanzarote Water Consortium, Oswaldo Betancort, stated that the signing represents a historic step that unlocks a project long awaited by the residents of El Golfo. He explained that this initiative was a legitimate demand that had been stalled since 2017, when the agreement that led to the work was signed.
Meanwhile, the Water Councillor and Vice President of the Consortium, Domingo Cejas, emphasised that the technical team has worked professionally to make up for lost time, ensuring that the coastal town does not continue to suffer the consequences of previous inaction.
Official Commencement
The replanteo record constitutes the formal acceptance that the contractor may begin work and marks the start of the contractual timeframe. From this moment, the sanitation project officially commences, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents and enhance the area’s environmental sustainability.
