Fuerteventura will become the ideal backdrop in November for one of the most significant events in the sailing world, the 44Cup. This international circuit features the RC44 yacht, a 13.45-metre (44-foot) monohull crafted from carbon fibre and equipped with some of the most advanced technologies available.

This year’s season finale will take place in Fuerteventura. Following the last competition in the Netherlands, competitors arrive in the Canary Islands filled with optimism, making it a home game for the local team. The new marina in Morro Jable will be the venue for a thrilling display of top-level sailing.

The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team, the only Spanish representative in the 44Cup, finished in eleventh position at the World Championship held in Scheveningen, after four days of extreme conditions in the North Sea, with gusts exceeding 35 knots and a challenging racecourse. Monaco’s Nika claimed the RC44 World Championship title for the fifth time.

In this context, the team achieved a fifth-place finish in one of the most arduous races of the championship, alongside several top finishes on the upwind legs, confirming their ability to compete at the same level as the leading teams and continue to solidify their progress within the class.

The owner, Daniel Calero, reflected on the experience, stating: “With some adjustments and sailing in Canarian waters, we see the potential for a great season finale. Competing in such a demanding championship and achieving a fifth place in a key race demonstrates that we are getting closer to the top teams. The crew continues to grow and learn.”

The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team carries out this project with the support of Lanzarote Tourism and the Centres for Arts, Culture, and Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, along with Calero Marinas and Calmar as strategic partners. Additionally, it has the support of EquipYacht and Allegra Travels for equipment and logistics, and the technical backing of Harken, Gottifredi Maffioli, North Sails, and Magic Marine, as well as the international sponsorship of Lanzarote Investment and John D. Wood & Co.

The 2025 season of the 44Cup will conclude at Marina Jandía, Fuerteventura, from 19 to 23 November, with the new sports marina of Calero Marinas, where the Spanish team hopes to leverage their accumulated experience to achieve their best result of the year.
