Lanzarote Recognised as One of Spain’s Top Luxury Destinations

The esteemed UK newspaper, The Independent, asserts that Lanzarote has established itself as one of Spain’s most luxurious destinations in recent years, with the island focusing on quality and unique experiences rather than the mass tourism that characterised it in the past.

According to The Independent, this new trend “aligns with Lanzarote’s deep-rooted construction and environmental regulations and the legacy of artist and architect César Manrique”.

As a result, visitors can fully appreciate the island’s beautiful volcanic landscape, which is protected and creates a stunning aerial view of dark lava fields and reddish mountains adorned with whitewashed buildings.

Top Luxury Hotels in Lanzarote

For The Independent, the island’s most luxurious hotel is the César Lanzarote in La Asomada. The newspaper highlights the approach via a “winding road” leading to “an impressive entrance, with a landscape of vineyards and palm trees leading to this magnificent mansion”.

In second place is the Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park in Playa Blanca, noted for being “supervised by Manrique. This hotel, consisting of three semicircular buildings, was designed to mimic traditional markets, featuring distinctive walls made of volcanic stone that enclose the island’s cultivated vines.”

According to The Independent, the third most luxurious hotel is La Isla y el Mar in Puerto del Carmen. “Although this hotel has 81 suites, it feels like a boutique hotel,” the article states, also praising its “minimalist atmosphere” complemented by “luxurious details adorning the rooms and common areas”.

Fourth on the list is the Salinas Paradisus in Costa Teguise, which the publication describes as “one of the older hotels, yet you wouldn’t notice, as it exudes the contemporary aesthetic of a high-end beach club. A stroll is worthwhile to admire the artwork and original architecture of Manrique.”

The Fifth most luxurious hotel in Lanzarote, according to The Independent, is the Seaside Los Jameos Playa, situated next to Playa de los Pocillos. This establishment is noted for its classic Canarian style featuring pine wood details and the typical Lanzarote colours of white, brown, and blue.

Next is the Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa in sixth place, followed by the Hotel Fariones in seventh.

In eighth position, the Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa in Puerto Calero is followed by Casa Sua in Caleta de Famara, a complex designed by Jon Kortajarena that includes one villa, three apartments, and a studio.

Completing the ranking at tenth place is the Hotel Princesa Yaiza in Playa Blanca.
