Success of the 36th Lanzarote Artisan Fair
The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its Culture and Craft areas, celebrates the success of the 36th Lanzarote Artisan Fair, which took place in Mancha Blanca (Tinajo) from 10th to 15th September, as part of the festivities in honour of the Virgin of Los Dolores. Over 80,000 people attended the event, setting a new record for participation and consolidating this fair as one of the most significant in the Canary Islands.
Massive Attendance and Quality Exhibitors
The island institution, led by Oswaldo Betancort, expressed gratitude in a press release for the overwhelming response from residents and visitors, as well as the quality and diversity offered by over one hundred artisans participating in this edition, with the American city of San Antonio, Texas, as the international guest. “The Artisan Fair is much more than just a space for exhibition and sale. It has become an economic and cultural engine that ensures the transmission of traditional crafts while simultaneously embracing innovation. This year we have exceeded all expectations, reinforcing Lanzarote’s identity as a benchmark in the craft sector,” the president emphasised.
Recognition of Artisan Contributions
The Councillor for Crafts, Aroa Revelo, thanked the artisans and the public for their support: “Thank you to all the participating artisans and to the audience for supporting this celebration, which reinforces the cultural identity of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, keeping our legacy alive.”
Councillor for Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, remarked that “the fair transcends commerce and becomes a grand cultural and community stage. It is a space where tradition, music, gastronomy, sport, and heritage intertwine, reflecting the richness of our island identity.”
Lanzarote Artisan Awards 2025
During the fair, the Lanzarote Artisan Awards were presented, designed to highlight the work of artisans and honour those who preserve this cultural heritage and identity.
In this 36th edition, the awards went to: Julián Rodríguez Rodríguez (Lifetime Achievement Award); Santiago Ramírez Curbelo (Young Talent and Generational Transition Award); and Paco Dorta (Decoration Award for Artisan Stand).
The event highlighted the importance of publicly recognising the effort and dedication of the sector, which is a true driving force of the cultural identity of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote expresses its gratitude for the support of the Centres for Art, Culture, and Tourism at this significant event, as well as the collaboration of the Tinajo Town Council and all entities that have come together to create a landmark in the history of the Artisan Fair, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the promotion, protection, and projection of island culture.
