Large Stone Falls from Abandoned Building in Arrecife, Nearly Injuring Pedestrian

A large stone dislodged on León y Castillo Street, nearly falling on a woman walking by on Saturday afternoon.

According to information from the Consortium of Security and Emergencies, they were alerted by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre about the fallen stone from the façade of an abandoned building on León y Castillo Street, in front of number 53 in Arrecife.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that it was an old and abandoned single-storey house without a roof, from which a large stone had fallen onto the pavement, presenting a risk of further dislodgements onto the public roadway. Firefighters proceeded to cordon off the area with barriers. Local police officers also arrived at the scene to assist in securing the area.
