Funding Approved for Housing Rehabilitation in Jinámar
The La Junta de Gobierno of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council has approved a grant of €3,301,233.64 from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of the Spanish Government for the rehabilitation of 446 homes in Phase III of the Jinámar polygon, covering the Vegueta, Cono Sur and Tafira districts.
### Total Investment Details
In total, including state funding and a municipal contribution of €1,899,126.36, an investment of €5,200,359 will be directed towards Phase III of the Jinámar polygon, specifically for towers 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, as well as blocks I (Portal 1, 2, and 3), 2 (Portal 1, 2, and 3), and 3 (Portal 1 and 2).
This contribution is part of an agreement signed between the City Council, the Ministry, and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility, to promote sustainable housing rehabilitation.
### European Funding Source
The funding is derived from the European NextGenerationEU funds, facilitated through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Spanish Government and transferred by the regional government.
The City Council reports that these initiatives will enhance the energy efficiency of the buildings by installing aerothermal systems, improving exterior painting, thermal insulation of roofs, and installing solar panels on rooftops. “Thus, it is estimated that a reduction of over 60% in the consumption of non-renewable primary energy will be achieved in both environments,” the note highlights.
### Additional Improvements
In addition to energy upgrades, the City Council indicates that the surrounding outdoor space will also be improved, “complying with accessibility standards and renewing infrastructure networks that service the homes.”
