New Opportunities for Civil Servants in Las Palmas
The councillor Esther Martín highlights that this call represents “a milestone within the City Council, as it allows for the first time the general filling of vacancies assigned to civil servants, and offers them the opportunity to progress in their administrative careers.”
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has published the guidelines for the upcoming merit-based recruitment for public sector positions, aimed at civil servants, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas this Friday.
According to Esther Martín, the councillor for Human Resources, this initiative is being implemented for the first time in the history of the Council, allowing for the offering of up to 237 vacancies across various roles, providing civil servants the chance to advance in their careers.
Distribution of Positions
In a statement, the council explained that the 237 positions are spread across section heads, technical unit heads, coordinator middle-grade technicians, administrative unit heads, group heads, coordinator officers, and career civil servant roles.
The complete list of positions, which will be open for application in the coming weeks following publication in the Official State Bulletin (BOE), includes areas such as Urban Planning and Management, Public Health, Community Social Services, Supply and Works Contracts, Culture, Youth, as well as technical units for Water, Public Lighting, and Smart City initiatives, among others.
Esther Martín emphasised that this call represents “a landmark within the City Council, as it allows for the first time the general filling of vacancies assigned to civil servants, offering them the chance to progress in their careers.” She further noted that “we are reinforcing our commitment to internal promotion and the professional development of civil servants, which translates into a more efficient and higher quality service for the community.”
Eligibility for Participation
Career civil servants who are in service at the City Council and have definitive assignments at the time of the call will be able to participate voluntarily, regardless of their administrative status, with the exception of those facing firm suspension during the call’s duration.
Once the application period ends, the convening authority will issue a resolution within a maximum of one month, approving a single provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates. This list will encompass all groups and subgroups and will be published on the City Council’s notice board.
