Local Police Intercepts Another Refrigerated Vehicle with Unacceptable Temperature
Second Incident in Less Than a Week
The Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has intervened this Friday, marking the second time in less than a week that officers have discovered a refrigerated delivery vehicle operating at an unacceptable temperature. This time, the cargo compartment was recorded at over 24 degrees Celsius, instead of the -18 degrees required by regulations for transporting perishable goods, according to information shared by the department on its X profile.
Findings by the Police
Moreover, agents from the District Unit Puerto found frozen perishable goods inside the truck.
This incident follows another interception on Wednesday, 10 September, when municipal agents stopped a refrigerated delivery vehicle during a routine check, discovering that it registered a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius.
The officers also inspected the cargo, which showed signs of thawing.
Importance of Maintaining the Cold Chain
The Local Police emphasise that failing to maintain the cold chain is “breaking the trust of the consumer.”
