Man in Critical Condition After Near-Drowning Incident in Lanzarote Pool
A man is in critical condition following an incomplete drowning incident at a Lanzarote swimming pool. The event occurred early on Wednesday morning at the Club La Santa complex, located on Avenida Krogager in the municipality of Tinajo.
At approximately 7:20 AM, the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) of the Canary Islands Government received a call reporting the rescue of a man exhibiting signs of drowning and in cardiac arrest, who was found in the pool.
Rescue staff at the site initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the arrival of medical personnel from the Canary Emergency Services (SUC), who continued the advanced procedures and managed to stabilise the situation.
A medical ambulance from SUC and another basic life support ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Initially, the man showed severe symptoms of incomplete drowning, and after stabilisation, he was transported in critical condition to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.
Additionally, the 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Centre activated the Local Police, who were responsible for handling the necessary procedures.
Furthermore, the Mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and Councillor for Security, Yurena Cubas, publicly commended the responding officers for their quick and effective action that was crucial in saving the man’s life. They also noted that this is not the first time these officers have responded to such incidents. Special praise was given to the Chief of Local Police, Eduardo Ferrer, who intervened in the resuscitation efforts even while off duty and present at the scene.
