Man Injured After Falling from Cliff in Granadilla
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 32-year-old man has sustained several moderate injuries after falling from a cliff at Montaña Roja, near La Tejita beach in the municipality of Granadilla.
Rescue Operation Initiated
The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM when the Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) 112 of the Canary Islands Government received an alert regarding a man who had accidentally fallen from a cliff at the beach.
Difficulties in Ground Rescue
Due to challenges in conducting a ground rescue, the Helimer, operated by Maritime Rescue, was dispatched to the scene but was unable to carry out the operation because of adverse weather conditions.
Water Rescue Accomplished
Consequently, firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium, along with Red Cross personnel, executed the rescue using a jet ski.
Medical Assistance Provided
Once on land, the medical team from SUC assessed and treated the injured man, then transported him to La Candelaria Hospital after stabilising his condition.
Police Involvement
Local police have taken charge of the investigation and collaborated with the involved rescue resources.
