Manuel Morillo Fiestas claimed second place at the Spanish Wingfoil Cup, showcasing his skills in the waves of the Cádiz bay.
Strong Performance at Valdevaqueros Beach
This past weekend, Valdevaqueros Beach in Cádiz hosted the Copa de España de Wingfoil, featuring the participation of Manuel Morillo Fiestas, representing the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. The Lanzarote native once again proved he is among the nation’s top riders, finishing second in the competition and demonstrating outstanding control of the waves.
Exciting Competitions
The top wingfoil competitors from across Spain gathered from 10th to 14th September at Valdevaqueros Beach, where the Spanish Wingfoil Cup and the Spanish Kiteboarding Championship took place. In the wingfoil category, Morillo advanced through the rounds from the very first day, ultimately reaching the grand final.
Final Showdown
In the under-17 final, the athlete from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife faced off against Ral Stefanelli, River Moore, and Nathan Berger. Consistent easterly winds throughout the competition created the perfect conditions for an exhilarating spectacle. Morillo scored 21.63 points in the final, narrowly missing first place, which was claimed by Berger with 22.13 points, well ahead of Moore at 16.20 points.
A Successful Season
Morillo was crowned sub-champion of the Copa de España de Wingfoil, rounding off an excellent season. This achievement adds to his success in April at the Spain Wingfoil League in Chiclana, where he secured fourth place in the overall ranking and was proclaimed Junior Freestyle Champion of Spain.
Words of Congratulations
Julio Romero, president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, along with the entire Board of Directors, congratulated Manuel Morillo Fiestas on his success this past weekend in Cádiz, reaffirming Lanzarote’s presence in such a rapidly growing national competition like wingfoil. He also highlighted “the significant role of this young athlete, fulfilling his dreams and taking steps to become a leading figure in the sport.”
