On 6th September, Tenerife will host a unique electronic music experience. Mappa Festival will present for the first time in the Canary Islands ‘Now here’ by Paco Osuna, an immersive format that has already become a reference in Ibiza, relocating to Siam Park in the southern municipality of Adeje, and set to be the epicentre of international clubbing.
“Performing in the islands or anywhere in Spain makes me feel really special because it’s my audience, it’s my people,” says Osuna. “Affection is always important anywhere in the world, but when it comes from your own area, from your people, it’s appreciated and valued much more.”
Regarded as one of the most influential techno DJs worldwide, Osuna reflects on his career: “Honestly, I don’t think I have evolved; I believe I have adapted to the times, but I have never lost my essence. I always maintain an identity that has a very funky, joyful, groovy bass, and I have kept that in every style I have played.”
His artistic vision translates into ‘Now here’, a space where music and the present are the only protagonists. “I call it the art of mixing, and since I was 14, I have always enjoyed having that groove, that consistency. I adapt, but I never lose my style,” he explains.
The philosophy of the project aims for the audience to live in the moment, disconnecting from distractions and feeling the music in a pure way. “When you play in an outdoor venue, in such a special location, with the sea and the castle… the music has to be more joyful, so that people enjoy the moment. And I enjoy it immensely as well,” the artist adds.
The line-up for Tenerife includes artists selected by Osuna, who acts as the main DJ: Ilario Alicante, Melanie Ribbe, De la Swing, Ariel Rodz, and Alex Wellmann, all aligned with the essence of the project.
From Ibiza to Tenerife
From his residency at Club Room in Hï Ibiza, recognised as the best club in the world, ‘Now here’ has established itself as a reference proposal on the white island. Now, Osuna is bringing the concept to Tenerife with a dynamic techno and tech-house sound, timeless and uncompromising to trends.
“I consider myself more a DJ than a producer. I need to play a track before it’s released on my label because I have to be the flagbearer of my own sound,” emphasises Osuna. This authenticity characterises every edition of ‘Now here’.
