Triathlons, Ironman, duathlons, paratriathlons, aquathlons, T100, and various other disciplines fill the calendar with events where athletes face demanding challenges. This week, one of these events arrives in the south of Gran Canaria, specifically in the Mogán coast, centred at Isla Corazón (Anfi del Mar). This gathering will bring together specialists from Spain and the Canary Islands aiming to earn points in the Swim Run 2025 regional and national rankings.
Event Background
The event, driven by Anfi Mogán, has its origins worth noting. According to the specialist publication triatlonworld, it began as an initiative by two Swedish brothers, Jesper and M. Andersson, along with two friends. They aimed to connect one island in the north with another in the south of the Swedish archipelago: from Üto to Sandhamn. In 2002, they completed an amphibious crossing of about 29 hours as a pair. Three years later, the first official race, the Ötillö, took place with 11 teams of two athletes; only two pairs finished within the time limit. This adventure grew into a recognised sport in many countries.
Iván Raña, Event Patron
Organised by Top Time Eventos and supported by the Mogán Sports Council, athletes from Barcelona, Madrid, A Coruña, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Murcia, among others, will participate. On Friday 5 September, in the afternoon, they will collect their athlete bags and prepare to tackle, in pairs, the challenge: swimming 2,600 metres—sometimes attached by a rope and without separating by more than five metres—in Arguineguín beach, followed by a run of 6,500 metres. The coordination between team members will be key to their success.

Race Details
The time limit to complete the 9,100 metres course, which includes twelve transitions between water and land, will be set at 135 minutes. To encourage the growth of Swim Run, Anfi Mogán is introducing an Open Popular event, which can be done individually or in pairs.
Additionally, a notable figure in the world of triathlon, Galician Iván Raña, will be present at Isla Corazón as the event patron, sharing experiences with over two hundred participants who will gather in Mogán this weekend. More information and program details can be found at swimruntour.es.
