The majority of interventions and treatments by physiotherapists in the hospital setting occur in gyms and physiotherapy rooms, equipped with various resources and the latest technology. However, part of this activity also takes place on hospital wards and in the Intensive Care Unit, where care is provided daily to an average of 30 hospitalised patients suffering from postoperative trauma or immobility syndrome.

Comprehensive Patient Care

The physiotherapy professionals at Molina Orosa cater to patients referred from other specialties and Primary Care. Most treatments are related to the musculoskeletal system and traumatic pathology; additionally, a significant percentage of interventions focus on recovery after orthopaedic surgeries.

Moreover, physiotherapists provide essential services for treating spinal deviations, limb amputations, neurological diseases, and in children’s rehabilitation, as well as supporting the normal development of boys and girls.

Specialised Units

The physiotherapy team has specific units for treating lymphedema in women post-breast cancer surgery, pelvic floor issues, and vestibular pathology, where peripheral and central vertigo is addressed.

Proximity Care

The Ministry of Health states that to bring rehabilitation programmes closer to patients and reduce the need for them to travel to the hospital, physiotherapists from Molina Orosa also operate in health centres in Valterra, San Bartolomé, and Tías. In fact, out of the total treatments performed by August, 16,652 were undertaken in these health centres.

Lastly, it is worth noting that three physiotherapists from the service assist at the Nuestra Señora de los Volcanes Special Education Centre, where they develop various therapies to promote the comprehensive development of students with special educational needs.

The physiotherapy team in Primary Care within the Lanzarote Health Area comprises 8 physiotherapists providing services across various basic health zones on the island. Throughout this year, these professionals have completed a total of 13,164 treatments.
