The Ayuntamiento of La Laguna, through its Municipal Services department, has intensified its management of bulky waste and electrical appliances in the municipality, successfully removing 1,056 tonnes during the first half of 2025 through its free home collection service.
Between January and June, over 984,000 kilograms of items such as mattresses, furniture, and large appliances were collected, alongside 72,250 kilograms of equipment containing chlorofluorocarbons—such as refrigerators and air conditioning units—that require special treatment due to their potential for pollution.
Improving Community Awareness
The Councillor for Municipal Services, Fran Hernández, emphasises that “this service allows residents to dispose of their belongings comfortably and safely, preventing the abandonment of waste in public spaces that leads to cleanliness and health issues.”
Hernández adds that “more and more families are using this municipal resource, which demonstrates increased civic awareness and confidence in a service that is free, efficient, and essential for maintaining the environment and the appearance of our neighbourhoods.”
How to Access the Service
The councillor reminded residents that the item collection service operates year-round, and can be requested by calling 900 102 925, where an appointment will be scheduled, and the procedure explained, all of which is completely free. “It is very important for residents to take advantage of this system and not abandon waste on the streets, as together we can keep La Laguna cleaner, more sustainable, and environmentally friendly,” he emphasised.
