This Sunday, the second edition of Salchiquedadas Canarias brought together animal lovers at the dog park in Corralejo. Nearly one hundred dogs, accompanied by their families, took part in a festive, pet-friendly day that is establishing itself as a pioneer in Fuerteventura and a reference point in the Canary Islands. Almost 100 dogs enjoyed the second edition of Salchiquedadas Canarias in Corralejo this Sunday.
The event attracted visitors from Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria, confirming the growing interest in this unique gathering that combines Dachshunds of all breeds and mixes, alongside sports, fun, and social interaction.
Support from Local Authorities
The event received backing from the Town Hall of La Oliva through the Animal Welfare Department. Its councillor, Christian Rodríguez, expressed positive sentiments about the celebration:
“It is a source of pride to support projects that encourage responsible coexistence between people and pets. The Town Hall continues to improve facilities, and this event demonstrates that Corralejo can be a benchmark in animal welfare.”

Event organiser Axel Sifontes highlighted the pioneering nature and excellent reception of this edition:

The programme included:
- Salchi Route and dog race: moments of great anticipation and fun.
- Canine talent show: featuring surprising demonstrations of skills.
- Chill Zone: a shaded area with fruits and fresh water, ideal for attendees and their pets to rest and socialise.
- Talks Zone: a space to promote pet road safety and responsible adoption.
The new features of this edition, such as the races and contests, were a resounding success among the audience.
