The Citizen Participation department will launch a new series of workshops at community centres, featuring a diverse programme that includes yoga, painting, guitar, crafts, and cooking, aimed at enhancing learning, creativity, and community engagement.

The Town Hall of La Laguna, through the Citizen Participation department, will open registration on 16 September for 150 leisure and free time workshops to be held across the 47 community centres in the municipality during the 2025-2026 academic year. The process will primarily take place via the municipal website and will remain open until the evening of 28 September.

Councillor for Citizen Participation, Fran Hernández, emphasised that “these workshops are much more than just a schedule of activities; they are meeting spaces that strengthen community life in every neighbourhood and town in La Laguna. Through these, we promote participation, coexistence, and creativity, fostering a more united and inclusive municipality.”

In this regard, Hernández highlighted, “Our aim is to continue establishing community centres as reference points for neighbourhood life, places where experiences can be shared, new skills can be learned, and social ties can be reinforced. We want every resident to find a space where they feel like an active part of their community.”

The new term will run from 16 October 2025 to 30 June 2026, offering a varied selection that includes training, culture, sports, tradition, and creativity. Each individual may register for a maximum of two workshops, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until full capacity is reached.

The programme encompasses activities aimed at physical fitness and well-being, such as yoga, maintenance gymnastics, dance therapy, cultural and artistic expression through workshops in painting, guitar, crafts, Canarian lace work, as well as practical learning in cooking, creative sewing, self-makeup, and skin care. This offering is designed to facilitate both the acquisition of new skills and intergenerational community interaction.

Comprehensive details about the programme, as well as the registration form, will be available on the San Cristóbal de La Laguna Town Hall website.
