The leadership transition within the socialist ranks of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has been finalised. Paula Corujo, next on the PSOE electoral list, is expected to become the new councillor at the island plenary following Hugo Delgado‘s decision not to take up the role for personal and professional reasons.
The Lanzarote Socialist Party has publicly expressed its gratitude to Delgado for “his commitment, dedication, and responsibility” over the past years, both during the previous term in which he served as councillor and the current one, where he was part of the candidacy led by María Dolores Corujo.

The General Secretary of the Lanzarote PSOE and Congress member, María Dolores Corujo, emphasised Delgado’s role within the socialist project: “Hugo is an example of commitment, loyalty, and discreet yet essential work. His role as councillor was crucial in advancing progressive policies from the Cabildo, and in this term, he has continued to support the principles we advocate for Lanzarote and La Graciosa. I can only express my heartfelt gratitude for all that he has contributed and will continue to contribute,” she stated.
For his part, Hugo Delgado conveyed heartfelt farewell words filled with gratitude towards the party and its island secretary: “I want to thank the Socialist Party of Lanzarote and María Dolores Corujo for the trust they have always placed in me. It has been an honour to be part of this political project and to contribute, in various capacities, to the progress of our land. I will always be grateful for the opportunity and the kindness received,” he remarked.
