Traffic Diversion Implemented on GC-20 in Arucas

The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands has implemented a new traffic diversion on the GC-20 in the municipality of Arucas (Gran Canaria) to continue the underground works between PK 3+400 and PK 4+870.

New Underpass to Maintain Traffic Flow

The underpass heading towards Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Firgas will be put into service. This will enable vehicle circulation to continue while the remaining works on the outer lanes of the new bypass are carried out, as reported by the Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility.

This provisional measure is deemed necessary to facilitate the adjustment of the grade at the top of the already completed structure. It will involve work on the Arucas side, which will also necessitate the temporary closure of the ramp connecting Arucas with the existing roundabout on the GC-20.

Strategic Project for Northern Gran Canaria

The Ministry emphasises that this action is part of the planning for the new bypass in Arucas, a strategic infrastructure aimed at improving mobility in northern Gran Canaria and reducing through traffic in the urban centre.

Finally, the Ministry urges drivers to exercise extreme caution and heed the provisional signage installed in the construction area to ensure the safety of both roadway users and workers.
