The fishing village of Caleta de Caballo, located in the municipality of Teguise, experienced one of its most memorable nights last Friday as part of the festive programme for La Lapa, featuring the much-anticipated traditional Noche de Parrandas.

Under a clear sky and with the sea breeze as an ally and accomplice, the village square and its adjacent streets were completely filled, welcoming hundreds of people who were keen not to miss one of the most popular events of the Lanzarote summer.

Among locals and visitors, a vibrant and colourful atmosphere reigned, although this time with a unique twist: white was the standout colour. The festival committee, which works diligently year after year to keep the village’s traditions alive, invited everyone to dress in white, a choice that added a touch of unity and elegance to the evening.

Additionally, a competition for the ‘Most Original Headdress’ was held, sparking the creativity of attendees and leading to moments that were both amusing and emotive. The three prizes awarded went to ‘Los Burgados‘ for first place, ‘La Nasa‘ for second, and ‘La Aulaga‘ for third. The competition saw high participation levels and an enthusiastic audience that celebrated each entry.

As expected, music was the soul of the night. The bands Son del Norte, Los Valles, and Los Gurfines enlivened every corner with their festive repertoire, getting both young and old dancing and singing. The energy remained high throughout the night, and the musicians gave it their all on stage.

Later into the night, local DJ Ariel took over the music, transforming the celebrations into a genuine dance floor. His selection of rhythms provided the perfect finale to a magical, participatory evening deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Caleta de Caballo.

The La Lapa Festivities continue to establish themselves year after year as a major highlight of summer in Lanzarote, and this Noche de Parrandas has only confirmed that tradition, when embraced with passion and community spirit, always finds new ways to shine.
