Noche del Patrimonio 2025: Celebrating Cultural Heritage in La Laguna

The La Laguna Town Council has unveiled the official programme for La Noche del Patrimonio 2025, a cultural event taking place this Saturday, 13th September, in the city’s historic core and simultaneously across the 15 UNESCO World Heritage Cities in Spain.

This eighth edition coincides with the Fiestas del Cristo and marks the 25th anniversary of La Laguna’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage City, a recognition that will shape the day’s programme, which is free and open to all citizens.

The presentation event, held at the Casa de los Capitanes, featured the Mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez; the Councillor for Cultural Heritage, Adolfo Cordobés; and the Councillor for Festivals, Dailos González, alongside heads of various initiatives included in the programme.

Among them were the director of the documentary San Benito. Unseen Heritage amid History, Plagues and Traditions, Ángel Pérez Quintero; filmmaker Dailo Barco, head of the Colecta Memoria project; and the guides for La Laguna: A Heritage of Heights, Luzbel Armas and Elisa Falcón.

Dance, Audiovisuals, and History

The programme will feature contemporary dance, music, intangible heritage, audiovisual arts, and history, aiming to reinterpret the historic centre through various mediums.

Cordobés explained that it is a “diverse, free, and accessible” programme, while Dailos González highlighted the connection between La Noche del Patrimonio and the Fiestas del Cristo.

Heritage Scene

The programme is divided into three sections: Heritage Scene, Open Heritage, and Experience Heritage. Activities will commence at 18:30 and continue until midnight, with dance performances expected from midday.

In Heritage Scene, the main performance will be Añil, by Carlos Carvento, chosen as the poster image for all cities in the group. Additionally, the artist will conduct a free workshop at Casa Anchieta on Friday, 12th.

The artistic programme will be enhanced with pieces such as BIO.ME and scenic tours by companies like ARTA Company, DUAL, and La Basal, who will perform at various locations within the historic centre.

Living Heritage

The Living Heritage section will showcase two premieres: Ángel Pérez Quintero’s documentary on San Benito and the audiovisual project Colecta Memoria, directed by Dailo Barco, which will have two screenings on Saturday at the Casa Anchieta. This project compiles images of La Laguna from 1926 to 1976. Additionally, a video will be shown featuring a journey through community centres aimed at recovering domestic audiovisual archives.

The Traditions Night section will include a parade with the Pandorga, fire horses, giants, and ‘cabezudos’, as well as concerts at the Plaza del Cristo featuring Achamán, Pieles, Domingo Rodríguez “El Colorado”, and Ayla Rodríguez.

Experience Heritage

In Experience Heritage, guided tours will be held titled La Laguna: A Heritage of Heights at the Museum of Sacred Art of Santa Clara, the Church and Ex-Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, and the Cabrera Pinto Institute.

These tours will take place at 20:00, 21:00, and 22:00, with limited capacity and access on a first-come, first-served basis. Some locations will not be accessible for those with limited mobility.

15 Cities

La Noche del Patrimonio is celebrated in the 15 UNESCO World Heritage Cities of Spain and aims to promote cultural heritage as a cornerstone of sustainable development and social cohesion.

The event serves as a tool for tourism and cultural promotion, featuring activities ranging from contemporary dance to audiovisual memory, connecting La Laguna with both national and international audiences.
