More than 22,200 people have visited the Carnival House so far in 2025, according to José Manuel Bermúdez, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The mayor highlighted that “this venue continues to establish itself as one of the most attractive spaces in the capital for planning a cultural visit.” He specified that “between January and 17 August, the Carnival House has received 9,350 foreign visitors, 7,575 mainland Spanish visitors, and 5,328 residents, demonstrating the interest this site holds for international tourists, nationals, and island residents alike.”

Bermúdez reminded attendees that “since its opening in 2017, the Carnival House has welcomed a total of 169,544 visitors, underscoring once again that it is a space that generates interest and curiosity for those wishing to delve into the history of one of our most representative festivities.” He also emphasized that “in addition to permanent and temporary exhibitions, this venue hosts activities for all audiences throughout the year.”

On her part, Carmen Pérez, the managing councillor of the Development Society, detailed that “although there are still four months left until the end of 2025, we are already nearing the total number of visitors that the Carnival House welcomed throughout 2024.” She added that “the 22,200 visitors we have this year highlight the increasing relevance this museum space has gained in planning visits to our city.”

“Among the countries of origin for visitors in 2025, in addition to the 12,727 Spanish visitors, whether residents or mainland Spanish, stand out the 2,567 French and the 1,526 Germans,” emphasized Pérez. She added that “regarding residents of the Canary Islands, the Carnival House has received 3,157 locals this year, along with 875 visitors from La Laguna and guests from other islands, including 176 from Gran Canaria, 83 from Lanzarote, 36 from La Palma, and 13 from Fuerteventura, among others.”

“In July, 2,820 people visited us, while in the first 17 days of August, 1,842 have already experienced the space,” reported Pérez, who added that “the programming of activities for all audiences at the Carnival House is also contributing to the increase in visits, including children’s workshops and guided tours.”

In this regard, Carmen Pérez announced that “to conclude August, we will offer two guided tours on the 24th and 30th at 12:00 and 13:00 hours, respectively.” She added that “furthermore, on 30 August at 16:00 hours, we will hold a children’s workshop to create a mini sardine using foam, where the little ones can craft a small sardine emulating the traditional one used in the carnival burial.”

“We will soon announce the activity calendar that this space will host until the end of the year, aiming to continue being a site that combines leisure and the promotion of carnival culture,” explained Pérez, who added that “our intention is for this space to have a permanent programme of activities for all audiences, making it an incentive for both locals and visitors to come to Santa Cruz.”
