Agents of the National Police, as part of the Senior Security Plan, have conducted a day aimed at enhancing the protection of elderly individuals. This initiative seeks to improve the quality of information and resources available to seniors, fostering their confidence in the State Security Forces through closer and more participatory communication.

The activities took place at the Hermanitas de los Ancianos Desamparados Residence, both in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, where the agents delivered informative talks on safety and concluded with a demonstration of police resources. The aim was to provide a tangible insight into police work, reinforcing feelings of proximity and security among the elderly.

This activity aligns with the main objectives of the Senior Security Plan (inform, prevent, encourage active reporting, and improve the relationship between the elderly and the security forces). Launched in 2010, the plan aims to enhance the safety and security of older individuals and has evolved to meet current physical and digital challenges. It encourages seniors to take an active role in their own safety, thereby reinforcing their confidence and autonomy.

About the Senior Security Plan

This strategy is promoted by the Secretary of State for Security and developed by the National Police. Its purpose is to detect and prevent threats such as abuse, theft, scams, financial fraud, and other risks, including those arising from the use of new technologies.

Key activities include:
• Informative talks at senior centres.
• Demonstrations of police resources for better visibility of the service.
• Meetings with families, associations, and sector professionals.
• Distribution of informational materials (leaflets, posters, videos, guides).
• Strengthening coordination between various institutions to protect this demographic.
